Apple Pie
Apple Pie is a novel, fun, upbeat and humorous tale of two friends searching for their favorite dessert. It was the winner of the Wasatch Chorale Ars Nova Composition Competition; their call for scores asked for a piece suitable for an afternoon family concert. With a rollicking piano part moving it along, the chorus tells of 2 friends who can find every type of pie you can imagine, except their favorite! In fact, almost 30 pie names are mentioned in the delightful and delicious text by Susan Vitucci. The piece lends itself to many possibilities: perhaps it can be acted out or projections of pies could be utilized. In the premiere performance, the audience was given signs with pictures of various pies to hold aloft when their pie was mentioned. It is of medium difficulty.
