Gray Visby Nocturne

Gray Visby Nocturne began as a sketch for an organ piece. Despite the slow, sonorous chords that unfold in the musical texture, I realized that I was not “hearing” the sustained sounds of the organ, but rather, chords that died away. Thus, it demanded the sound of the piano. This sound-world was directly influence by the fading, gray, winter sky I experienced in Visby, Sweden while I was there in January, 2022.

| Jazz Ground is a brief fairly simple piano solo, Gershwin-like in feeling. A third or fourth year student could manage it.
