Rosa mystica (Vocal Score)
Rosa mystica is a sacred devotional cantata combining various texts in which a rose or flower is used as an analogy for the Blessed Virgin Mary, including the Rosa Mystica tradition, and Mary as the stem of the rose from which, arising out of the root of Jesse, grew Jesus, the Spotless Rose.
In three movements, it is variously scored for Soprano solo, unison children’s voices (or women’s semichorus), mixed chorus (without divisi), oboe, cor anglais, bassoon, trumpet, piano and strings. Alternative instrumental parts may be substituted: flute and clarinet for oboe and cor anglais, and solo cello for bassoon.
This is the vocal score, which contains the Soprano and other vocal parts, with a piano reduction of the chamber orchestra/piano accompaniment. The work can, if necessary, be performed with piano accompaniment only, using this reduction.
Purchasers of performance sets of the vocal score can obtain a licensed downloadable copy of the full score and orchestral/full piano parts at no additional cost, on request from the composer.

| This gorgeously heartfelt Spiritual gently asks the listener, exactly “where they were”, on the dark day when Jesus Christ was brutally crucified… and points an unflinching finger at themselves; a witness to the degrading torture and death that He endured, to expiate the world’s sins.
