September Trilogy

for string orchestra
by  Andrew Rudin

Composed in 2007 and only recently premiered in Philadelphia by Orchestra 2001, SEPTEMBER TRILOGY moves from the anxiety, mounting dread, and unexpected event, through a somewhat cynical militaristic demonstration, to a soulful contemplation and a search for understanding.  The titles and the subsequent realization that it appropriately commemorates the events of 9/11 were understood by the composer only after having completed the work.
