Paul Gibson

Paul Gibson’s most recent premiere was performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic in honor of the orchestra’s centennial. In 2015, Loyola Marymount University commissioned and premiered his Te Deum for chorus and orchestra. Gibson’s Noel, Noel, Noel was chosen by the Texas Choral Directors Association and the American Choral Directors Association. In 2005, his It Fell upon the High Midnight was co-winner in the annual Christmas Carol Competition sponsored by the American Composers Forum and VocalEssence. In 2001, the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus commissioned him to compose Suite: Alice Through a Looking-Glass, on three Lewis Carroll texts. CREATOR magazine named Gibson’s Veni Sancte Spiritus as one of the ten best sacred works of 2001. In 1996, he took part in the first Composers Symposium of the Oregon Bach Festival, where three of his choral works were performed. In 1993, G.I.A. released A Mass of Life, a critically acclaimed CD collection of his sacred music. In 1987, Gibson was commissioned to arrange hymns for Pope John Paul II’s liturgies in Los Angeles. His music is published by Alliance, E. C. Schirmer, Fatrock Ink, G.I.A. Publications, LeDor, OCP, and Morningstar and has been broadcast on hundreds of radio stations.
